🦠 Microbiology – SRI PATHOX

Our Microbiology Department provides a wide range of tests to identify bacteria, viruses, fungi, and parasites that cause infections. Using culture methods, microscopy, and rapid molecular techniques, we deliver accurate and timely reports to support effective treatment.

Common Microbiology Tests

Urine Culture / Sensitivity
Detects urinary tract infections and identifies the right antibiotic treatment.
Stool Culture / Sensitivity
Finds harmful bacteria or parasites causing gastrointestinal infections.
Fluid Culture / Sensitivity
Examines body fluids (pleural, ascitic, CSF, etc.) for infection-causing microbes.
Pus Culture / Sensitivity
Identifies bacteria in pus or wound discharge to guide effective therapy.
Swab Culture / Sensitivity
Detects infection-causing organisms from throat, wound, or nasal swabs.
Fungal Culture / Sensitivity
Confirms fungal infections in skin, nails, or internal organs.
Endotracheal (E.T) Culture / Sensitivity
Checks for respiratory infections in patients with ventilator or tracheal tubes.
Sputum Culture / Sensitivity
Diagnoses lung and respiratory tract infections, including tuberculosis.
Gram’s Staining
A rapid test that differentiates bacteria into Gram-positive or Gram-negative.
Ziehl–Neelsen (Z.N) Staining
Special stain used to detect tuberculosis and other acid-fast bacteria.
Wade-Fite Staining
A diagnostic stain primarily used for identifying leprosy-causing bacteria.
